About This Spot

Stepping into Woodes feels like slipping into a quiet corner of Bristol’s history, where calm and familiarity settle in alongside the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee. This cozy café, nestled on Park Street, invites a peaceful pause from the city’s rhythm. The pace here meanders gently, with low chatter filling the rooms and soft natural light catching on vintage details that hint at the café’s longstanding place in the neighborhood.

The atmosphere is quietly timeless, evoking the comfort of well-loved spaces without feeling stuck in the past. Those who come for an early coffee often linger, drawn by the warm friendliness behind the counter and the subtle charm of mismatched seating—from the snug little tables downstairs to the inviting window stools above.

Woodes serves more than just drinks; it offers moments. A cappuccino dusted with cinnamon carries a familiar warmth, and the carrot cake, moist and spiced just right, becomes more than a treat—it’s a small consolation for the day’s pace. Whether settling in with a hearty English breakfast in the morning or enjoying a calm weekday corner to work from, the café’s simple, honest offerings quietly complement the experience.

The blend of old-fashioned touches and everyday affordability creates a space where locals might find their quiet refuge—an inviting spot to watch the world pass by or to share a comforting snack with a friend. And despite its peacefulness during the week, the weekend brings a livelier buzz, weaving a subtle energy through the inviting retro walls.

What a lovely cafe. Pleasant staff and good service. It has a bit of an old fashioned theme going on and I think it has been there for a while. Thoroughly recommend the red berry winter cake. I will definitely go there again.

Lovely quiet cafe, the pastry were extremely cheap for what I was expecting but I had a blueberry muffin and it was moist and very flavorful, delicious little snack to start my day. My partner had a slice of carrot cake and a latte.

Weekday visit ( enjoy tranquil surroundings). I really like the retro feel there. Coffee is nice but don’t expect to the artisan level (based on the reasonable price). Very crowded in weekend. Barista is very friendly. P.S: outdoor seat and toilet.

I like going to woodes for breakfast if I'm working near by. The service is always good and the staff are friendly. It's good value for money, especially for somewhere in town. For example, a bacon sandwich is only £3.50 which is cheaper than Wetherspoons. There are about 5 small tables downstairs and few higher bar stool type seats in the window. There's also seating upstairs, although I've never been up there. The food I've ordered has always been made fresh and arrived hot. My only gripe (and it's an extremely trivial one) is that they don't cut their sandwiches in half. Hacking through a bacon sandwich with a butter knife just seems a bit odd to me. Especially cutting it on a plate rather than a cutting board! I assume they'd cut it if I asked, but I never remember and don't always eat in.

Decent coffee and good selection of light food. Eating in is like traveling back in time because of the decor.

Lovely cafe on Park Street with an old timey vibe. The wooden seating is lovely reminds you of church pews. Feels like a very welcome change to all the other hipster cafés around.

Friendly staff, and nice upstairs cosy seating area to escape to. Plenty of seating space mid morning. Iced americano, blended, was delicious and perfect for a hot day.
